General Meaning
If the Ace of Cups is the sea, the Two of Cups is the first wave meeting the shore. Love finds an object. Emotion discovers another person. The solitary heart recognizes its mirror. This is one of the most unequivocally positive cards for matters of the heart — a partnership founded on equality, mutual respect, genuine affection.
Each party sees the other clearly and offers their cup freely, without demand or manipulation. The flow of love between two people, distinct from the flow of love from within that the Ace represents.
Venus in Cancer brings love that wants to nest, to protect, to create a safe harbor. Tender, loyal, sentimental — but also prone to mood swings and the urge to cling. At its best, the Two balances Venus's desire for union with Cancer's need for safety.
